Preek / Sermon

Philippians 4:4 NIV “Rejoice in the Lord always, I will say it again: Rejoice!''
Paul wrote this letter to the church in Philippi under difficult circumstances while he was in prison.
In his letter he encouraged the believers, that the new life in Christ surpasses everything and brings peace and joy in spite of circumstances.
Our Lord Jesus invites us into a relationship with Him - not to take away our joy, but to enter into the joy of the Lord.
The believer is not safeguarded against grief and sufferings. We must keep on believing and trust the Lord who will work all things'' for the good of those who love Him.''
We read in Ps 30:5 “Weeping may endure for a night, but joy comes in the morning.''
There was also discord between two ladies in the church at Philippi. Paul's advice was to “Rejoice in the Lord always ....'' Joy is a remedy for discord as well as for the body.
Proverbs 17:22 NIV “A cheerful heart is good medicine, but a crushed spirit dries up the bones.''
We should pray that our lives will be characterized by the joy of the Lord.
