The principal of Glenred Pri-mary School, Mr Thebe Itume-leng, cannot believe the school he has managed for the past three decades has an administration block - courtesy of Kudumane Man-ganese Resources.
A magnificent structure was glam-orously handed over by the mining manager Mr Caeser Nokwe and the mine's Secretary Ms Tshidi Mashishi on January 31, 2018.
The spacious administration block has all the facilities a modern office has to provide for the smooth run-ning of duties by the staff and includes bathrooms, kitchen, staff-room and offices ideal for the professional running of the school.
Narrating his “long route” in quest
for the availability of the administra-tion block at the school, the principal said that credit has to go to the Joe Morolong local municipality that heeded the school’s plight and de-servedly won the willing heart of Kudumane Manganese Resources, a local manganese producing mine in the area.
Expressing his collective gratitude he said, “...even teachers including children are surprised over the wind-fall. I don't know how many years I have been applying to different mines for the provision of this struc-ture and this Kudumane has respon-ded abundantly”.
Handing over the structure, the mine manager Mr Caeser Nokwe said that when the project was allo-
cated by the Joe Morolong munici-pality, it was upon the mine to ensure that good work was done.
“When the gauntlet was thrown at Kudumane Resources Mine (KMR), we equally found it befitting because it takes a village to raise a child and the mine has become a family mem-ber of this village. As a mine we feel we are planting a seed for the future as we derive all professions from education. This structure now be-longs to you and the community for the benefit of all of us”.
A representative from the chief-taincy also felt that the building of the structure by the mine was a great blessing in the area and a wise in-vestment.
